All English Council courses are "total immersion" courses, and follow a communicative syllabus, with a step-by-step immersion process, replicating the experience of learning one's first language. The main aim of our courses is to give all students the confidence to use their spoken English, which in turn will give them the confidence and motivation to improve all aspects of their English. While English as a Spoken Language is important in order to achieve the level of fluency required for Business Communication, job-seeking, tourism, employment etc., an all-round education in the four skills plus the fifth one, "pronunciation" is essential as a prelude to further studies for TOEIC, IELTS and TEFL Preparation, SAT, BMA and other Academic and Specific Purposes. A thorough understanding of English grammar and sentence structure, as well as an expanding knowledge of vocabulary should be the aim of every student. Confidence leads to proficiency which should then lead on to excellence. All English Council courses include a balance of grammar and pronunciation, plus vocabulary building and functional English for all situations. Courses are designed to help improve all five of the English language skills, through a variety of authentic situations, using a wide range of materials and methods to help develop and improve all five language skills in speaking, listening, reading, writing and pronunciation. All the courses are suitable for those wishing to prepare for the Trinity College Spoken English Examinations. Exams and (mock-practice) exams can be arranged to suit all levels.
